Planning
We
are students of cities, constantly refining our knowledge of tools and
techniques to improve and revitalize neighborhoods, expand opportunities
for affordable housing, strengthen the range of community services and
amenities and improve access to public transportation. Our reference frame
includes our previous planning experiences in large cities, including
San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Atlanta, Vancouver
and Anchorage. We employ a wide variety of tools to assist in the analysis
of urban patterns and trends.
Cartographic
Services
Maps
are the simplest and most convenient manner to convey spatial information.
3D Visions understand the need for accurate and accessible map-related
information. Utilizing GIS databases, USGS topographic files, digital
orthophotos and CAD drawings as source materials, 3D Visions creates maps
with Freehand, AutoCAD Map and ArcView.
    
Community
Outreach
3D
Visions offers a wide range of community outreach work: developing creative
campaigns to notify residents about studies and proposed projects in a
number of languages. An additional area we excel in is planning and conducting
public workshops, especially those that involve attendees in interactive
ways. Workshop participants, as volunteer problem solvers, often provide
new insights and assist our project teams in outlining new alternatives.
Database
Development and Administration
3D
Visions provides complete GIS database design services, including user
needs assessment, data acquisition and conversion, concept design, forms
and reports, CAD to GIS file translations, scanning and digitizing, and
mapping documentation. We collect, prepare and validate field data specifically
designed for land development and environmental projects. We apply a valid
table structure to communicate with a variety of existing GIS relational
databases.
Database
Analysis and Map Analysis
Using
an existing or in-house designed database to analyze spatial, georeferenced
layers, such as land use and transportation, our staff will interpret
data and recommend solutions that meet the scope of your project. We specialize
in developing custom queries and summary reports of the data.
Field
Studies
In
conjunction with our land use database services, 3D Visions develops and
conducts field survey activities. We develop digital survey instruments
and work with the client to customize the data collection and provide
quality control. Our staff is pioneering the use of touch-screen handheld
computers to collect field survey data. This process takes advantage of
digital maps, and integrates existing databases for more accurate data
collection. Our handheld computers may be operated by surveyors on foot,
bicycle, or in a car. We are also able to incorporate GPS coordinates
into our data collection.
GIS
Customization
The
staff is experienced at customizing existing GIS systems and can build
a system to meet the needs of your organization. Using GIS and Visual
Basic programming languages, we can design a Graphical User Interface
(GUI) to streamline the data entry and retrieval process.
GIS
Presentation Graphics
The
staff uses various presentation software to produce quality presentation
graphics such as Quark's Xpress; Adobe's PageMaker, Photoshop, Premiere
and Acrobat; and Macromedia's Freehand, Fireworks, Director, Shockwave
and Dreamweaver software packages.
Map
Production
3D
Visions staff produces professional maps combining graphics and data for
land use planning and environmental design analysis. Data manipulated
may include Coordinate Geometry (COGO) points, Global Positioning System
(GPS) points, and ArcINFO geodata sets. Our staff is trained and experienced
in ESRI software, and is highly skilled in CAD programs including AutoCAD
Map 2000.
Network/Internet
GIS Applications
Our
staff is trained to use ArcIMS, Coldfusion, Map Objects, ArcExplorer,
Flash, Director and Dreamweaver to create web server applications for
intranet and internet deployment. We develop GIS Internet applications
and interactive mapping projects that allow your clients to query data
and produce downloadable graphics.
