3D Visions was founded in San Francisco in 1995 as a woman-owned firm. Our staff includes full- and part-time employees, and occasionally subconsultants.

We are professional planners and artists. We attended wonderful colleges and universities. Yet, our education didn't end with completion of our degrees. We stay at the leading edge of our profession by:

  • participating in professional organizations; attending courses and seminars in software and professional practices;
  • undertaking internal training (how-to sessions by senior staff, peer coaching, and tutorial software);
  • conducting extensive research and development activities;
  • documenting our procedures;
  • reading many technical, professional and industry publications; and
  • attending and participating in professional conferences and user groups

About Our Staff

Kathryn (Kate) Gillespie, AICP (gillespie@3dvisions.biz)
Urban Planning is the centeroid of the web of Kate's interests: ringed by her goals of creating healthier, more lively, cosmopolitan cities; promoting friendlier, more hospitable neighborhoods; encouraging better architecture and design; enhancing public access to information; promoting greater use of graphic arts; enhancing opportunities for children, residents and students to expand their awareness and involvement in urban planning.

Kate worked as a planner in public practice in New York. Prior to moving to California a decade ago, she consulted on municipal projects in Anchorage and Boston. Ms. Gillespie holds a Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She also studied graphic arts at the Boston Architectural Center. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Washington. Her early career as a public school teacher prepared her as a facilitator and planner of public workshops and meetings.
