As a physical planner interested in technology and community economic development, Mr. Yan is focused on improving the application of data to urban policies and public service. He has collaborated on physical plans from university campuses to revitalized downtown core. His work  mapping and analyzing land use and business patterns was key to the City of Vancouver’s Chinatown revitalization strategy.

In New York City, he was a member of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation’s Chinatown working group and a member of US Census Bureau’s Census Information Center Steering Committee. As Research and Policy Manager for the Carnegie Community Action Project, he concentrates on affordable housing. Mr. Yan has extensive experience in public outreach and has lectured at universities and presented papers at major conferences.
